Welcome to the Native American Center at New Mexico Highlands University. At NMHU we believe each student’s roots- family, community, history- form a solid foundation for strong branches. As one of the most diverse campuses in the region, our success is driven by respect for each of our cultures and viewpoints.
Through the Native American Center, Native American students and communities have access to many services that help make a university education accessible, attainable, and above all an enjoyable experience.
The Native American Center also provides information and applications for Native American Tribal Scholarships as well as tuition waivers for undergraduate and graduate students. For more information click here. We also provide an annual financial aid workshop and coordinate visits from tribal scholarship programs.
We also host a variety of events throughout the year. Our annual Welcome Back dinners are held the first Wednesday after classes begin at 6 pm in Student Union Building. Each semester our student employees provide a variety of personal enrichment workshops. For more information click here.
