Hello, my name is Tyrell Morgan, I’m Navajo and from the Navajo Nation. My major is Social Work and I plan to pursue a Master’s Degree here at New Mexico Highlands University. I like to stay active and keep a healthy personality by playing sports such as Basketball and Running to stay in shape. I also like to watch a lot of NFL, NBA, College Sports, I pretty much like to watch any kind of sport. I like listening to music, playing video games, as well as going for hikes. NMHU has really gotten me out of my comfort zone and pushes me to be a more organized individual.


Greetings, my name is Jakob Acosta, and I’m an out of state student Southern California. I’m currently a sophomore at New Mexico Highlands University pursing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. This is also my second year working for the Native American Center as a work study and also a member of the Native American Club. I was born in Pasadena and raised in the City of Covina, California. I graduated from Bishop Amat Memorial High School in the year of 2016 and got accepted to NMHU in the spring of 2016. With my college education there is a variety of opportunities with management I hope to work in the future.


Hello, my name is Sam Proper I am from the Navajo Nation and I am currently a Senior at NMHU. My area of study is Criminal Justice and Wildlife Management. I am originally from a small town in New Mexico called Ramah, this is where I did a majority of my growing up. I did not graduate from Ramah High, I transferred to Navajo Prep in Farmington New Mexico my junior year. I love being active and when I have free time I’m either in the outdoors or in a gym. I am close to finishing up my degree and am extremely excited to graduate and continue my life journey. Once I finish my college education I plan on moving to Colorado and working in one of the national parks as a Conservation Officer.


Hello, my name is Angelica Sandoval. I was born and raised here in Las Vegas. This spring is the first semester of my senior year here at NMHU. I am pursuing a double major in psychology and criminal justice. My goal is to one day become criminal psychologist. I really enjoy my majors and feel like I can have a career that helps others, which is something really important to me. My biggest motivation for completing my degree is my mother. She raised me as a single parent and has always encouraged me follow my dreams. I am also thankful for the opportunity to work at the Native American center here at NMHU. I think I am going to benefit a lot from learning more about another culture and gain valuable work experience.
